Making Sustainable Choices at Christmas
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. But not for our Earth. With the peak holiday season coming up, customers all over the world will be purchasing gifts for everyone they love, including family, friends, and whatnot. And although the intentions are good, we often forget what the impact of buying all of these objects will be on the environment. This is why, after some research, I have put together a gift guide to refer to. Although none of the brands included are perfect, it is worth considering that they all work towards making fashion more sustainable. Whether it is by sourcing their materials in a more conscious and responsible way or by dramatically changing their supply chain, they all present specific initiatives that all other fashion brands can learn from.
While I have put together a list of (potentially) great gifts, feel free to do more research on the individual brands and the other products they offer. Please take all of these suggestions with a grain of salt: these brands represent the positive change that we are seeing happening in the industry, rather than the end goal. If there is one thing we can all agree on, it is that the path to effective circularity in the fashion industry is still far from completion. While companies work towards implementing sustainable practices, we, as consumers, can make our difference. After all, the Christmas season puts to the test the ethics of our customer choices, giving us a chance to do good while also inspiring the receiver to shop more sustainably. So all there is to do is spread some love, but also some environmental awareness!
